Leo Gallery was established in 2008 in Shanghai by Leo Li and Cissy Pao-Watari. Initially starting in the historic Ferguson Lane within Shanghai's former French Concession, the gallery quickly earned a reputation as a progressive force in the contemporary art scene. Following its success in Shanghai, Leo Gallery expanded its footprint internationally by opening a branch in Hong Kong in 2015, which is currently located in the vibrant art district of Sheung Wan. The gallery's mission revolves around integration, cross-cultural dialogue, and the sustainable growth of the art community. It dedicatedly bridges fine arts with daily living by focusing heavily on contemporary abstract and expressionist art, as well as sculptures and public art installations. Leo Gallery is deeply committed to nurturing young talent and giving emerging artists the platform for their debut shows, while simultaneously representing established contemporary artists regardless of their nationality. Furthermore, the institution places a strong programmatic emphasis on amplifying the voices of women artists and fostering long-term international collaborations. Beyond its gallery walls, Leo Gallery actively enriches the local community through quality artist residency programs, academic initiatives, and public art projects in collaboration with commercial and educational institutions.
