Ora-Ora was founded in Hong Kong in 2006 by Dr. Henrietta Tsui-Leung, a highly influential figure in the regional art ecosystem who also co-founded the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA). The gallery's name, derived from a concept meaning "from one era to another" or "eternity," reflects its foundational belief that high-quality art transcends generational and geographical boundaries. Originally starting as a boutique gallery, Ora-Ora has grown into a highly respected international platform, eventually relocating its primary exhibition space to the historic Barrack Block within Tai Kwun in Central. The gallery’s mission is to showcase globally sourced, thought-driven innovators who interpret history and philosophy to bring fresh perspectives to the contemporary world. Ora-Ora is widely recognized for its pioneering support of Asian contemporary art, particularly in bridging Western and Eastern creative dialogues. Its diverse program spans a wide range of media, including contemporary ink, sculpture, painting, and digital or media-based installations. By actively developing global alliances, participating in major international art fairs, and cultivating a roster of both emerging and established talent, the gallery remains dedicated to exploring the intersection of art, lifestyle, and intellectual curiosity.
