HKWALLS is a prominent non-profit arts organization founded in Hong Kong in 2014 by Jason Dembski and Maria Wong. The initiative began as a passion project aimed at transforming the public spaces of Sheung Wan into vibrant outdoor galleries. Since its modest beginnings, the organization has grown into a major cultural force, celebrated for its landmark annual street art festival held every March during Hong Kong’s global Art Month. Over the years, HKWALLS has expanded its physical footprint across various neighborhoods turning ordinary urban facades into canvas for world-class public art. The primary mission of HKWALLS is to create continuous opportunities for both local and international artists to showcase their talents through the mediums of street art and street culture. The organization strongly celebrates creativity, originality, and freedom of expression, working actively to demystify the creative process by making it fully visible and accessible to the general public. By placing high-quality murals directly onto the streets, the institution fosters a deeper connection between global artists and local communities. Beyond its signature annual festival, HKWALLS operates year-round programming that includes community workshops, guided tours, innovative mobile art projects, and dedicated artist-in-residence programs designed to support long-term career development and raise social awareness through public art.
