Situated in the industrial-chic art district of Wong Chuk Hang, wamono art is a contemporary art gallery originally founded in 2016 (and formally incorporated in Hong Kong in 2021) by three Japanese founders based in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore. The gallery's name elegantly combines the Japanese characters "wa" (meaning Japan, harmony, or oneness) and "mono" (meaning piece, physical object, or material). Operating with a core mission to elevate international awareness of contemporary Japanese arts, the gallery focuses on introducing bold, boundary-pushing concepts from Japanese artists regardless of their medium, technique, or genre. In its exhibition history, the gallery has built a reputation for showcasing an eclectic and highly refined range of media, including contemporary bamboo art, metal kinetic sculpture, conceptual photography, and street-art-inspired video installations, providing a vital bridge that connects Japan's rich craft heritage and avant-garde subcultures directly to the global art hub of Hong Kong.
