David Zwirner was founded in New York City in 1993 by the influential German art dealer David Zwirner. Initially starting with a single gallery space in Soho, the brand grew into a global empire with multiple locations across New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles. In 2018, recognizing the critical importance of the Asian art market, David Zwirner opened its first Asian outpost in the heart of Central, Hong Kong. The gallery established its home within H Queen's, a prestigious, custom-designed vertical art hub on Queen's Road Central, taking over two full floors of the state-of-the-art building. The gallery’s mission is to present world-class, museum-quality exhibitions of contemporary and modern art, representing over seventy of the world's most renowned living artists and historic estates. David Zwirner serves as a vital bridge connecting Western art history with the vibrant cultural landscape of Asia, introducing highly acclaimed international artists to regional collectors and institutions. Its highly dynamic programming in Hong Kong features seminal solo exhibitions by globally celebrated figures in painting, sculpture, and photography, while simultaneously fostering intellectual engagement through scholarly publications, educational programs, and active participation in major regional art fairs.
