POINTSMAN

Gallery · Hong Kong

Originally established in 2013 as a curatorial practice and exhibition-making studio under the name Pointsman Art Creation, POINTSMAN expanded its physical footprint in 2022 by opening its dedicated gallery and collaborative art space, POINTSMAN Artspace, in the historic, steep hills of Sai Ying Pun. Founded by local curators and creators Leo Wong (Wong Chun-him) and Yu Kei-kei, the space operates under a community-driven mission to transform traditional art exhibitions into active sites of dialogue, research, and collaborative play. Rather than functioning simply as a commercial gallery, the collective's history is rooted in bridging the gap between professional arts and grassroots community spaces, championing open-ended creative research that encompasses temporal forms, walking tours, sensory gardening, cooking, and social and embodied practices. Housed inside a cozy neighborhood space at 119 Second Street, the art space serves as a literal "station" designed to bring together artists, researchers, architects, educators, and the public. By staging conceptually curious solo shows, interactive multimedia works, environmental installations, and collaborative public art initiatives like their "Art in the Field" and "Takeaway Art" projects, POINTSMAN has carved out a vital niche as an alternative, socially engaged laboratory that fosters creative experimentations within Hong Kong's urban fabric.
