Gallery · Hong Kong
Sansiao Gallery was originally established in Tokyo, Japan, as part of Sansiao Trading, before launching its dedicated Hong Kong outpost, Sansiao Gallery HK, in Central in 2017. Located on Wyndham Street, the gallery built a reputation for bridging the Japanese and local Hong Kong art scenes. Following the closure of its Tokyo space in February 2025, the brand underwent a significant evolution, relaunching as Sansiao Contemporary. While transitioning from a traditional brick-and-mortar gallery model to focus on secondary market collection sales, advisory, and intimate salon gatherings, the institution maintains its physical presence in Hong Kong as a dynamic hub for curated projects and exhibitions. The gallery’s core mission is to foster a unique visual dialogue by juxtaposing fresh, emerging talent alongside established global masters. Sansiao's programming is celebrated for its eclectic curation, drawing from an extensive private collection of over 4,000 works that span painting, photography, and mixed media. This allows the gallery to showcase rising contemporary artists from Japan and Hong Kong directly alongside legendary twentieth-century icons like Andy Warhol, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Tseng Kwong Chi. By presenting diverse, theme-driven exhibitions that range from classical pop-art to modern figurative works, Sansiao continues to offer an intimate, accessible, and highly intellectual perspective on global contemporary art.
