Founded in 2011 by Boris Vervoordt as an expansion of his family's legendary multi-disciplinary art and design empire, Axel Vervoordt Gallery expanded internationally in 2014 by opening its first overseas outpost in Hong Kong. The gallery operates under a profound mission anchored by a core philosophy: to champion living contemporary artists who explore the concept of the void, the process of creation, and the delicate relationship between space, time, and matter. In its regional history, the gallery originally launched in Central before expanding into a sprawling multi-level space on the 21st floor of the Coda Designer Centre in the Wong Chuk Hang arts district in 2019. Renowned as a premier global authority on Japan's radical post-war Gutai movement and the European Zero art movement, the gallery uses its Hong Kong platform to weave Eastern and Western philosophies together, exhibiting major international figures alongside regional talents in a minimalist environment that bridges ancient spirituality with contemporary expression.
