Massimo De Carlo was founded in Milan, Italy, in 1987 by the prominent Italian art dealer and visionary Massimo De Carlo. The gallery quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the international contemporary art market, known for launching the careers of major global artists. Seeking to bridge European contemporary art with the rapidly growing Asian market, the gallery opened its Hong Kong branch in 2016, originally setting up inside the iconic Pedder Building in Central. In 2021, the gallery relocated its Hong Kong headquarters to the prestigious Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts, cementing its position within the city’s premier cultural compound.
