Opening a Treasure Box of Memories: Kwun Tong, Telephone Booths, and Hong Kong Stories Book Signing Event with Hang Tam 📅 Date: Sunday, September 6, 2026 🕒 Time: 3:00–5:00 PM 📍 Venue: Blue Lotus Gallery 28 Pound Lane, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong (All are welcome to attend) Many photographers represented by Blue Lotus Gallery have taken Hong Kong as the central subject of their work. These include Fan Ho, whose street scenes captured the city in the 1960s; Keith Macgregor, who photographed Hong Kong throughout the 1970s and 1980s; and Birdy Chu, whose photographs document Kai Tak Airport and the aircraft departing from it. Their work continues to resonate with audiences because it evokes personal memories of a city that is constantly evolving, preserving moments that might otherwise be lost to time. Continuing this exploration of memory and Hong Kong, on the first Sunday of September, we will invite local photographer Hang Tam to the gallery to present two photobooks: It really is Kwun Tong? and Hello! Do You Remember Me? 打開記憶寶盒：官塘、電話亭與香港故事 《呢度真係官塘嚟》《喂！記唔記得我呀？》譚昌恒簽書會 Blue Lotus Gallery 旗下不少攝影師皆以香港作為創作核心，當中包括記錄六〇年代城市街景的何藩、拍攝七〇至八〇年代香港風貌的 Keith Macgregor，以及紀錄啟德機場與離港飛機的 Birdy Chu。這些作品之所以能夠打動觀眾，在於喚起大眾對於這座不斷變遷城市的個人回憶，留住那些差點被時光沖走的片段。 延續這場關於香港與記憶的探討，九月首個星期日，我們邀請本地攝影師譚昌恒來到畫廊，分享兩本攝影書：《呢度真係官塘嚟》與《喂！記唔記得我呀？》。 Treasure-hunt Photographer Hang Tam will guide readers through his photobook, It really is Kwun Tong?, which is presented in the unique form of a silver box. Opening the box begins a treasure-hunt-like experience, with maps, letters, receipts, and a large collection of photographs that together lead readers on a visual journey through Kwun Tong. It really Is Kwun Tong? begins with the photographer’s personal story, taking readers back to the Kowloon neighbourhood in the 1970s — formerly written as “Kwun Tong / 官塘” — and tracing the transformation of the same place across four decades.
