TOKI NASHIKI Solo Exhibition

Exhibition · PMQ · Hong Kong

Starting September 4, a solo exhibition by Toki Nashiki will be held in Gallery tete. Founded in 2016 by Ryan Hui and Wy Lee, Toki Nashiki is a Hong Kong-based ceramic studio. They have consistently focused on exploring tableware and vessels designed for daily life. Navigating the intersections of art and design, craft and everyday living, they continually search for forms where utility and aesthetics coexist naturally. This exhibition introduces a new experiment—ceramic works infused with liangran (gambier dye), a traditional natural dyeing technique. Fired ceramics are immersed in dye baths and dried under the sun. Repeated multiple times, this process preserves the clay’s raw texture while gradually layering the pieces in shades of orange, brown, and deep black. In addition to everyday vessels, this exhibition features large-scale pieces and tables. Moving from a single object to the surrounding environment, it presents Toki Nashiki’s philosophy on the “aesthetics of living” through the dialogue between object and space.
