Offffffloor Edition at HART HAUS Kennedy Town Hong Kong

At HART HAUS in Kennedy Town, artists Cho Sum Yuet and Cheng Lok Yi present Offscum: Offffffloor Edition, an immersive installation that turns the gallery into a dystopian convenience store for the future body. On view until June 6, 2026, the exhibition imagines a world where body upgrades are sold like everyday products. Under the fictional lifestyle brand #VitalAnew, shelves are filled with speculative enhancements packaged as clean, ready-to-buy consumer goods. At first, the space feels familiar. The bright displays, neat branding, and retail layout echo the language of pharmacies, supermarkets, and tech stores. But the more you look, the stranger it becomes. The exhibition asks what happens when self-improvement stops being a choice and starts feeling like an expectation. Through sci-fi visuals, interactive design, and clinical store aesthetics, Cho and Cheng explore the pressure to optimize the body. Their work reflects a culture where technology promises better health, better looks, better performance, and better control. But it also raises a darker question: how much of ourselves are we willing to trade for convenience? The body becomes the final marketplace. Flesh, identity, and desire are treated as things to be upgraded, packaged, and sold. Mechanical rhythms and cybernetic imagery sit beside raw anatomical references, creating a tension between the human and the artificial. What makes Offscum: Offffffloor Edition effective is how ordinary it feels. By borrowing the look of a convenience store, the artists show how quickly unsettling ideas can become normal when they are wrapped in clean branding and easy access.
